Revival Festival a Major Success

Crowds gather to enjoy the music at the Revival Festival.

Creggan Enterprises is pleased to announce that its inaugural Revival Festival, organised to mark the 60th anniversary of Creggan and the completion of its new £500,000 office/business units, was a resounding success.

The festival, organised in partnership with Joe Gallagher Entertainments and hosted by Frank Galligan, Broadcaster and Journalist, attracted over 3000 people to Ráth Mór Shopping Centre in the heart of Creggan on Bank Holiday Monday. One happy onlooker was Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, who praised Creggan Enterprises for developing an innovative event in a welcoming family atmosphere.

The highlight for the local children was the appearance of their favourite TV characters such as Shrek, Barney the Dinosaur, Bob The Builder and Dora the Explorer and guest appearances by Mickey and Minnie Mouse who greatly entertained the children throughout the evening.

The Furey Brothers and Davy Arthur together with More Power to Your Elbow with support from the Derry Jazz Quartet entertained the large attendance of music lovers young and old.

The draw for a Mitsubishi Colt Car sponsored by Ennis Bros, Costcutter Superstore was won by local resident, Elaine McClafferty.

Creggan Enterprises Development Executive Conal McFeely remarked: “Creggan Enterprises believe it is local people who are the key to the development and revival of the local neighbourhoods. Our aim is to foster collaboration between local people, public agencies, community and business sectors to encourage investment and create jobs in the area.

“Creggan is renowned for its spirit of self-help and endurance. The Revival Festival was a family-friendly event for the local community, organised to acknowledge and thank the residents for their ongoing support for the Ráth Mór Centre and Business Park.

“Everyone attending spoke about how they enjoyed the fun and frolics at the festival and requested that this should become a regular event at Ráth Mór. With the continued support of the community and our sponsors we will hopefully keep the spirit of Revival alive in future years.”

Elaine McClafferty won the car in the big competition draw.
